The American Red Cross is mandated to meet the physical and emotional needs of people affected by more than 67,000 disasters a year, while respecting human dignity, and helping people return to normal life. Whether an entire region is devastated by a storm or one family is displaced by fire, Americans trust the Red Cross to help victims with immediate needs such as food, clothing, shelter, and encouragement.
Volunteers work with staff to assist families affected by local, as well as National disasters. Training is required and is provided free of charge.
DAT Team Volunteers are members of the Disaster Action Team and are on call for 1-week intervals, responding to after-hours single family fires and other local disasters.
Safety Patrol Volunteers check and replace batteries in smoke detection devices in the homes of the elderly or disabled in our community, during the months of October and April.
DSHR Volunteers are eligible to be assigned to work on National disasters when called upon. These volunteers much commit to volunteer for a minimum of two weeks. |

The American Red Cross provides emergency communication services for active duty, reserve, and National Guard services members and their families. Each month, Red Cross emergency communication centers process 120,000 calls and 12,800 emails in support of military families.
Volunteers are part of a team who help the Red Cross relay emergencies messages between residents of Alamance and Caswell Counties and military personnel.
Military Rotation Team Members handle after hour communication responses. On call for 1-week intervals. |

Volunteers work with staff and other volunteers to help the chapter meet financial obligations and help support service delivery.
Special Event Volunteer help plan, coordinate and participate in special events.
Clerical Volunteer make phone calls and help with mailings.
Volunteer Committee Member provide leadership and guidance by serving as a member of a committee. |

The American Red Cross saves and enhances thousands of lives every day as the nation's largest supplier of blood, plasma, and tissue products. Though voluntary donations, the Red Cross supplies half of the nation's blood and 20 percent of tissue for transplantation. More than 4 million voluntary blood donors donate over 6 million units annually thought the Red Cross. The Red Cross provides blood services to 3000 hospitals nationwide.
Blood Services Volunteers work with staff to support donors though the donation experience at blood drives throughout Alamance and Caswell counties.
Canteen Volunteers serve food and drinks, offer encouragement, and provide recognition to donors.
Greeter Volunteers greet donors and answer questions.
Volunteer Coordinators supervise and assist at blood drives, where needed.
Logistics Volunteers deliver supplies to and from blood drive locations. |

The American Red Cross trains 12 million people each year in lifesaving skills such as first aid, CPR, swimming and water safety. People count on us for the information and skills they need to be safe at home, at work, at school, and at play. We've developed specialized training in babysitting and other areas, and we are now training people to take advantage of cutting-edge lifesaving technology such as automated external defibrillators.
Volunteers are trained and authorized individuals who help the Red Cross provide education and training to members of the community.
Volunteer Instructors teach a variety of different health related classes to the community.
Health Fair and Event Volunteers assist in providing health related information at community events. |
